Carson Grove News Week of February 10th

Carson Grove ES News Update - Week of Feb. 10th
It was another super week at Carson Grove. The great winter weather made it another perfect week for skating and sliding. On Friday, Ms. Robinson and Ms. Grant’s classes showed their musical talents during a short performance. We also listened as Ms. Streamer’s class performed a song called “Jambo” as they shared a bit of their learning during Black History Month.
Four Day Weekend Coming Up
Friday, February 14th is a PA Day and Monday, February 17th is Family Day. The school will be closed for students. Classes will start again on Tuesday, February 18th.
Acadience Early Reading Screening - Middle of Year - Year 2 Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2
As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that all children receive the support they need, specialist teachers will be rescreening all Year 2 of Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students’ foundational reading skills beginning February 12th, 2025. This rescreening process will help us assess each student’s individual reading progress.
We understand how important early literacy is in each child’s educational journey, and this rescreening will help educators tailor their instruction to better meet the needs of each student.
On Wednesday, in the Year 2 Kindergarten Communication of Learning reports and Grade 1 and 2 Term 1 Report cards, you will be reminded of the beginning of year early reading screening results. This middle of the year screening will allow us to monitor your child’s progress since the fall.
Valentine’s Day at Carson Grove
Some students may want to exchange Valentine’s Day cards this week. If you choose to participate, it’s best to send the cards without individual names so handing out the cards is easier for your child. Sending a set of 24 cards would work for most classes, with the exception of grade 5 classes that would need 28. Students may also bring a personal treat or food for celebration, but there should be no sharing of food or exchange of treats, please.

February 12th - How to Access Term 1 Elementary Report Cards
At the end of the day on Wednesday, February 12th, you will receive an email from the school that contains the link to download the secure PDF report card. Parents and guardians will need to enter their child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to access the report card.
When entering the OEN, please include the hyphens (dashes). The format should be XXX-XXX-XXX. The OEN can be found on any previous provincial report cards or on a pink paper that was recently sent home with your child.
For parents and guardians without an email account or if you have any other questions, please contact the school office for assistance.
