Carson Grove ES News - Week of Nov. 13th

It was really nice to see families out for our Remembrance Day ceremony on Friday, November 10th.  Students and staff did a great job with the presentations.  Thank you to Ms. Streamer for her work as the organizer and Ms. Hanna who led the ceremony.

Accessing Grade 1 to 5 Progress Reports and Kindergarten Initial Observations

Families will receive their child’s Grade 1 to 5 Progress Reports and/or Kindergarten Initial Observations directly in their email.  On Thursday, November 16th, you will receive an email from the school that contains the link to download the secure PDF report card. Parents and guardians will need to enter their child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to access the report card.

When entering the OEN, please include the hyphens (dashes). The format should be XXX-XXX-XXX. The OEN can be found on any previous provincial report cards. The school will also send home a copy of the OEN next week.  Please contact the school office if you need any help.

Save the Date: Family-Educator Interviews on November 23rd and 24th

Family-educator interviews will take place in the evening on Thursday, November 23rd and the morning of Friday, November 24th.  Friday, November 24th will also be a PA Day with no school for students.  Early next week, teachers will be sending home a letter so families can choose the best day to set up an interview time.  Stay tuned!

Save the Date: Friday, December 1st is a Family Movie Night

Carson Grove School Council will be hosting a Family Movie Night on Friday, December 1st from 6 to 8pm.  An adult family member must stay for the entire movie to supervise their child (or children).  More details will be shared soon!

Save the Date: Tuesday, December 5th is Student Photo Day

We have partnered with Ottawa Technical Secondary School (OTSS) for our school photos.  On Tuesday, December 5th, senior OTSS students and their photography teacher will come to Carson Grove to take student photos and class photos.  They will then prepare the photos for us to print on photo paper.  A page of prints will be available at no charge for all students in the new year.

Safely Dropping Off or Picking Up Your Child by Car

Families can stop safely in the parking zone across from the school parking lot.  The parking zone ends with a “No Parking” sign and the end of a thick white line on the street.  Please never stop in the area across from the school parking lot entrance.  Also, please have your children only exit your vehicle from the passenger side.  Using driver side doors is dangerous as your child will be at risk of being hit by traffic.  Please look both ways and carefully walk your child across the street to the school.  After school, please repeat these steps to be sure to keep your child safe.

Happy Diwali

Some Carson Grove families and staff will be celebrating Diwali on Sunday, November 12th.  If your family is celebrating, may the festival of lights light up your home with happiness, laughter, prosperity, and health. A very Happy Diwali to you and your family!
