Carson Grove ES News Update - Week of May 13th

It was another busy week at Carson Grove!  The biggest highlight for many grades 1 to 5 students was the opening of the play structure.  Students worked very hard during their physical education classes to learn the rules for safe play on the structure and earn “licences”.  The good decision-making continued at recess.

Another awesome thing at Carson Grove is the PALS recess leadership program.  Some student leaders from Mr. Thomas and Mr. Clarke’s classes have been training to run recess activities for the primary classes at recess.  Every Tuesday and Thursday, a different primary class can participate.

May 16th - Carson Grove ES Community Celebration and Potluck

We are having a community party from 4:30 to 6:30pm on Thursday, May 16th.  There will be a potluck meal, games, and activities for the whole family.  Buses from the Pineview and Donald St. areas will be available.  More information was sent home last week.  Click here to see the poster.

Elementary Program Review - Public Meetings (Local Meeting on Monday, May 13th)

The district has scheduled 7 public meetings for the Elementary Program Review.  These gatherings will feature small group discussions led by Elementary Principals, Trustees, and Superintendents.  Topics up for discussion include the current program's impact on student learning and well-being, proposed changes to enrich educational experiences, and the necessary support for smooth transitions to the new model.  These engagement sessions aim to gather valuable input from parents and families to support potential enhancements to the elementary program.  Can’t join us in person? You can still share your feedback on Engage OCDSB.

Joke or Riddle of the Day!

A “Joke or Riddle of the Day'' is featured daily on the morning announcements.  There are two ways to share a possible joke/riddle of the day: Students will be able to pass along jokes/riddles at school in class using a Chromebook; or, they can suggest one with help from home by clicking here and completing a quick Google Form.  Based on the overwhelming response levels in the past, not all jokes/riddles are used during the announcements.  We do our best to find ones that match the time of the year and also try to make selections from a variety of classes.
