Carson Grove ES News - Week of Feb. 12th

It was another great week at Carson Grove.  The final school photos happened today.  We are expecting to have photos ready to send home in the next three or so weeks.  Please stay tuned for updates!

Happy Lunar New Year - February 10th

The first day after the new (dark) moon is a religious and cultural festival celebrated as New Year’s Day by many communities; for example, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Koreans of Buddhist and other backgrounds.  We send our best wishes to all who will be celebrating the Lunar New Year!

Four Day Weekend Coming Up

Friday, February 16th is a PA Day and Monday, February 19th is Family Day.  The school will be closed for students.  Classes will start again on Tuesday, February 20th.

Valentine’s Day at Carson Grove - Red, White, and Pink Spirit Day on Wednesday, February 14th

Carson Grove staff will be organizing fun ways to show kindness, caring, and appreciation for Valentine’s Day.  As a school, we will be having a Red, White, and Pink Spirit Day on Wednesday, February 14th.  Please mark your calendars!

Students may exchange Valentine’s Day cards.  If you choose to participate, it’s best to send the cards without individual names so handing out the cards is easier for your child.  Sending a set of 24 cards would work for all classes, with the exception of grade 4 and 5 classes that would need 26.  Students may also bring a personal treat or food for celebration, but there should be no sharing of food or exchange of treats, please.

Candygrams For Sale - Week of Feb. 12th

Back by popular demand, candygrams (small chocolate treats) will again be on sale this year.  Each candygram is $0.50.  Students can purchase them from Monday to Thursday this week.

Register for Kindergarten

Families with a child who will be four years old by December 31, 2024 can visit the OCDSB website to register them for Kindergarten.  You can also come to Carson Grove between 9:30am and 3:30pm daily to register in person.

February 14th - How to Access Term 1 Elementary Report Cards

At the end of the day on Wednesday, February 14th, you will receive an email from the school that contains the link to download the secure PDF report card. Parents and guardians will need to enter their child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to access the report card.

When entering the OEN, please include the hyphens (dashes). The format should be XXX-XXX-XXX. The OEN can be found on any previous provincial report cards or on a paper that will be sent on Monday or Tuesday with your child.

For parents and guardians without an email account or if you have any other questions, please contact the school office for assistance.

Joke or Riddle of the Day!

A “Joke or Riddle of the Day'' is featured daily on the morning announcements.  There are two ways to share a possible joke/riddle of the day: Students will be able to pass along jokes/riddles at school in class using a Chromebook; or, they can suggest one with help from home by clicking here and completing a quick Google Form.  Based on the overwhelming response levels in the past, not all jokes/riddles are used during the announcements.  We do our best to find ones that match the time of the year and also try to make selections from a variety of classes.
