Carson Grove ES News Update - Week of Dec. 4th

Sports Spirit Day was a lot of fun!  It was nice to see so much school spirit!  Also, we’d like to say a big thank you to our school council for organizing the Family Movie Night.  It’s great to have opportunities like this for our families to come together at Carson Grove!

Please be sure to send your child to school with appropriate cold weather gear.  Students will be going outside unless conditions are extreme, such as frostbite warnings, blizzards, high winds/windchill, etc.  Students can come to the office to borrow winter clothing.

Another thing to remember is that school remains open on days when school transportation has been cancelled.  If you are not sure, please look for an Ottawa School Transportation Authority (OSTA) announcement by 6:15am and then make plans to bring your child to school for 9:15am and pick up at 3:45pm.  You can sign up for OSTA transportation alerts at ottawaschoolbus.ca.

Tuesday, December 5th is Student Photo Day

We have partnered with Ottawa Technical Secondary School (OTSS) for our school photos.  On Tuesday, December 5th, senior OTSS students and their photography teacher will come to Carson Grove to take student photos and class photos.  They will then prepare the photos for us to print on photo paper.  A page of prints will be available at no charge for all students in the new year.

OrKidstra Vanier Hub Holiday Concert on Dec 13th

It's time once more to celebrate the season with OrKidstra’s free Holiday Concerts.  OrKidstra is excited to host two concerts this year – the OrKidstra Vanier Hub Holiday Concert on Dec 13th.  OrKidstra is an Ottawa-based social development program that empowers kids, ages 5-18, from under-served communities by teaching life skills – such as teamwork, commitment, respect and pride in achievement – through the universal language of music.

The event details on the OrKidstra website here. As always, the concert is free to all, with no tickets needed.  The concerts are about 75 minutes long and are the perfect free holiday activity for families to cultivate pride in the community and instil a love of music.
