Carson Grove News Week of Sept. 12
Carson Grove ES News Update - Week of Sept. 8th
Our first four days of school were great! Students are doing well as they learn the routines at school and make friends. Everyone has been very welcoming of new students and staff members.
The media permission, technology use, breakfast program, and peanut allergy forms that were sent home this week have been coming back quickly. Thank you for your support! Please look for the personal information verification forms to be sent home with your child soon.
School Bus Updates
Please think about using the OSTA APP to get updates about late buses and cancellations. Click here to see instructions to access the app.
Volunteering with Carson Grove
Volunteers are very important at Carson Grove. We often need volunteers to help with things like field trips and school events. In order to volunteer, you need to be screened by the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE). Please click here and fill out the “Volunteer Interest Form” at the bottom of the webpage. ONFE will contact you with instructions on how to apply. Please call the school if you need any help with filling out the application.
Walking/Parking Lot Safety
Parking lot safety is very important, especially for students who walk to school or are driven. Family cars are not allowed to enter the parking lot while school buses and transportation vans are loading or unloading. Please park across the street and walk your child to the school. Never go into the parking lot itself when walking and always use sidewalks. Walking in between school buses is also very dangerous! Let’s all work together to keep our students safe!
Fire Drills and Lockdown Practice
As a part of our routines to prepare for an emergency, we will be holding three fire drills and a lockdown practice in the coming weeks. Teachers will review the steps with students to help them get ready for the drills.
Looking For Family Members to Join the Carson Grove School Council
We are looking for family members to join our school council. School council meets in the evening at school (or online) about 4 to 6 times a year to talk about the school and how to make it the best place for all of our students to learn. We are also very interested in how to best connect and communicate with our families. Please reply to this email if you have any questions or would like to join our school council. We will be having our elections and first meeting on Monday, September 22nd at 6pm in the school library.
