Carson Grove News Update - Week of Feb. 3rd

We had another great week at Carson Grove.  A highlight of the week was the Hot Chocolate Cafe supported by Ms. Jenny and her class and organized by Ms. Neu and the students in our Spirit Day Planning Committee.  Carson Grove’s School Council covered the cost of the supplies for our little cafe.  Classes took part in outdoor activities including walks in the snow, skating, and sledding and enjoyed a warm cup of hot chocolate!

Black History Month at the OCDSB

February is Black History Month in Canada, a time to celebrate Black culture and history and applaud the many achievements and significant contributions of Black Canadians. While the realities of people of African descent must be reflected in school experiences all year long, the month of February provides a special time for focused reflection on the lived experiences of Black people, past and present.

Student Photo Update

As you likely remember from the fall, Ottawa Technical Secondary School (OTSS) partnered with us to take our school photos.  OTSS students came to Carson Grove to take student photos.  They have edited the photos and we are in the process of sending the files to print on photo paper.  A page of prints and a class photo will be available at no charge for all students (who had a photo taken) near the beginning of February.

Toonie Tuesday is February 25, 2025: Give A Little, Help A Lot! $2 can be the difference between nothing and something.

Our Toonie Tuesday campaign has kicked off, and we’re ready to make 2025 our best year yet!

On the last Tuesday in February, we all come together to support students in need within the OCDSB. But you don’t have to wait until February 25th to donate. You can donate right here, right now!

Did you know that requests continue to increase? Every dollar raised will support students’ access to food, clothing, and meaningful activities. You can invest in a student’s potential! Let’s unite to make a difference!

At the Education Foundation of Ottawa, we believe every student deserves the tools they need to succeed. That’s why we’re here. Our mission is to reduce economic barriers impacting student learning and well-being through financial and in-kind support for students in the OCDSB.

The challenges students face are most likely, and often, out of their control. They shouldn’t have to feel the impact of life’s circumstances. The Education Foundation of Ottawa is here to help, but we can’t do it alone.
