Week of November 7th News Update

Last week was another amazing week at Carson Grove.  Students had a great time with Halloween and Black and Orange Spirit Day.  The very warm weather was also really nice for recess and outdoor learning time.  Classes are enjoying the extra long use of the play structure before it will eventually close for the winter months.

Treaties Recognition Week

In 2016, Ontario passed legislation declaring the first week of November as Treaties Recognition Week.  It’s being recognized from November 6th to 12th this year.  This annual time honours the importance of treaties and helps students and residents of Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships. By learning more about our collective treaty rights and obligations, we can create greater understanding and nurture these relationships.

Each year, students learn why treaties matter to all Ontarians. This year, Indigenous Elders and knowledge keepers’ video stories are being shared in schools across the province.
