Week of March 6th News Update
Students and staff worked hard this past week to build new routines and get to know some new people in their classes. The snow also made for some extra special times at recess.
This coming week, we will be looking at using our WITS as a school. The WITS (Walk Away, Ignore, Talk It Out, and Seek Help) are strategies to use when someone or something is bothering us. A group of student leaders has been preparing skits and presentations for WITS assemblies this week. Teachers will also be using read aloud books to look at WITS in their classrooms. To support what’s happening at school, families are encouraged to talk with their children about using their WITS at home!
March Break
The March Break school holiday is one week away. All OCDSB schools will be closed to students from March 13th to 17th.
School Climate Survey
Every two years, the OCDSB conducts a School Climate Survey as part of our commitment to safe, inclusive, and welcoming schools. The survey is anonymous and confidential.
It is important for us to hear from parents and guardians about the school culture. What we learn tells us how our school communities are doing so that necessary changes to improve the learning environment can be made.
Parents and guardians can complete the survey anonymously between March 1st and March 24th. The data gathered will help us understand to what extent students, staff and families feel their school promotes safe and inclusive learning environments and positive behaviour.
Please click here to complete the survey.
Joke or Riddle of the Day!
A “Joke or Riddle of the Day'' is featured daily on the morning announcements. There are two ways to share a possible joke/riddle of the day: Students will be able to pass along jokes/riddles at school in class using a Chromebook; or, they can suggest one with help from home by clicking here and completing a quick Google Form. Based on the overwhelming response levels in the past, not all jokes/riddles are used during the announcements. We do our best to find ones that match the time of the year and also try to make selections from a variety of classes.
