Week of January 16th News Update

We had a great first week back at school after the winter break.  Students are starting to get really excited with City of Ottawa workers preparing the skating rink behind the school.  It was a quiet day on Friday with the buses and vans not running.

New Date: PJ DAY - Wednesday, January 18th

To make up for the lost spirit day when buses and vans were cancelled on January 13th, we will be having a pyjama spirit day on Wednesday, January 18th.  Wear a pair of cozy PJs to school this Wednesday!

January 19: Black Excellence Day - Please Consider Wearing Black on Thursday to Show Your Support

Students and staff across the OCDSB are encouraged to participate by wearing black on January 19th, and include the voice, vision and contributions of people of Black African descent in their learning throughout the year.

PA Day - Friday, January 20th

The school will be closed for students on Friday, January 20th for a PA Day for staff.

Free Clothing Give Away for Carson Grove Families - 12 to 3pm on January 20th

On Friday, January 20th, we will have gently used clothing and winter clothes available for families.  Please come to the school gym from 12 to 3pm and take home whatever clothing you and your family needs.

Staff Update

We are announcing two changes to our kindergarten team.  Please join us in welcoming English teacher Jessica Hawkins to the Kindergarten B class who will be replacing Sophia Chaudhry.  Ms. Chaudhry has moved to a full time position at another school.  Please also join us in welcoming back Marie-France Laliberte who will be returning to Carson Grove over the coming weeks as French teacher for the Kindergarten A and B classes.  A big thank you to Emily Axford who worked with the two classes in a long term occasional role since September.

Wednesday, February 1st, 6pm - New to Kindergarten 2023 Info Night

With the 2023 Kindergarten registration week (for new kindergarten students starting in September 2023) set to run at the end of January, Carson Grove ES will be hosting an information session on Wednesday, February 1st at 6:00pm in the school library.  Please share this date and time with any neighbours, friends, or family in our school area.
